(Synopsis) Recruited into the CIA at a young age, Connor Sparks knows how dirty the world can be. Only when he’s with his friends can he find some peace. So when an anonymous journalist threatens one of the Perfect Gentlemen, Connor vows to take down the person behind the computer, by whatever means necessary—even if it means posing as his target’s bodyguard.

Publishing a tabloid revealing Washington’s most subversive scandals has earned Lara Anderson the ire of the political scene—and a slew of death threats. To keep herself from ending up a headline, Lara hires a bodyguard, a man as handsome as he is lethal.

When the bullets start to fly, Lara is surprised to find herself in Connor’s arms. But as they begin to unravel a mystery that just might bring down the White House, Lara is devastated when she discovers Connor’s true identity—and finds herself at the mercy of forces who will stop at nothing to advance their deadly agenda.

I am really loving Shayla Black and Lexi Blake's Perfect Gentlemen series. These five men are all interesting and unique and I love the dangerous games they are playing. The intrigue and mystery that began in book 1 of this series, Scandal Never Sleeps, continues in Seduction in Session as more questions are raised surrounding the death of fellow friend, Mad. The further down the rabbit hole they go, the more it becomes clear that no one is safe.

Connor is a pretty hard guy - harder than the others, anyway. He has a hard time opening up to anyone, even his best friends. It's the nature of his job in the CIA. He's full of secrets and he's seen and done some pretty scary stuff. So, when the trail of who killed one of their group leads him to a political blogger, who also happens to be a senator's daughter, he's tapped as the guy to get close to her by any means necessary to find out what she knows.

Honestly, Lara isn't my kind of heroine. She's a bit sheltered and naive. She's a political activist with blinders on. And, she's a bit of a hippie, buying only organic food and fabrics and eating vegan. Lara is kind of wishy washy and way too trusting. Honestly, she was the perfect mark for Connor.

One thing about these super scary alpha military types - they are ridiculously protective. I loved seeing Connor's instincts kick in when it became clear that someone was trying to kill Lara. That was when Connor was at his best. He got to use his military training to be all stealthy and menacing and be super hot while he did it. Apparently Lara thought so too. And, who could blame her? Even sheltered hippies will fall victim to a true alpha male doing his thing.

Although Connor's and Lara's relationship is built on lies and half-truths - at least on Connor's part - real feelings start to complicate matters, and soon Connor has some hard choices to make. It was fun seeing confident, unwavering Connor freaking out over them. It gave proof to his feelings, which was nice to see. And Lara most definitely does not roll over like I was afraid she might. It earned her a lot more points in my book.

Just like in book 1, one of my favorite parts of Seduction in Session is the friendship between the five guys. They are as close as brothers and willing to do anything for any of the others. The five of them are very different, and yet, when one has a need, the others know just what to do to help. We do get to see plenty of Gabriel and Everly, which was necessary, given how things were left between Gabriel and Connor at the end of book 1. There needed to be some closure there. And, as it turns out, Everly plays a big role in this book. I have a feeling that both Everly and Lara will be important in the rest of the stories.

The groundwork continues to be laid for the remaining three guys - Dax, Roman and Zach - to eventually have their happily ever afters. But, it's very clear that those will not come easily. We are still trying to figure out the mystery of who killed Maddox and what all Mad was involved in when he died. Super romantic moments and crazy hot sex aside, just the mystery alone would keep me reading this series. All of those things together make this series super exciting.
